Canon is one of the leading brands in the photography industry. Cano is a popular brand for traditional cameras and it has also made a name for itself in the digital camera field as well. Canon has always been a fine company for producing quality goods and they are still living up to their name when it comes to Canon camera lenses. There are two kinds of Canon camera lenses, zoom lenses and prime lenses. Zoom lens are every convenient because they can be adjusted to suit the needs of the person taking the photograph. Usually, zoom lenses are great for beginners or the average person who just want passable pictures and is not so particular regarding the quality or crispness of the pictures.  Although, nowadays, zoom lenses are very good at taking quality pictures as well as the prime lenses.

Prime lenses are those lenses that often need to be changed to suit the subject of the picture. These Canon camera lenses are usually faster than zoom lenses in capturing the subject. This is because they usually have a wider aperture for capturing more light. This feature allows for more action stopping speeds in the shutter to be used in low light conditions. Prime Canon camera lenses can also be used for subject isolation where the background is blurry compared to the subject. This style of taking photographs can achieve beautiful results.

The many recent developments of the Canon DSLR are making the uses of fixed Canon camera lenses less compared to the zoom lenses. Zoom lenses are becoming faster and more versatile than fixed lenses which make their differences more pronounced. Some photographers may prefer fixed Canon camera lenses compared to a zoom lens for use in their profession especially for studio photographers who have a fixed subject but usually the inconvenience of lugging along several fixed lenses to be able to capture several photographs can be very tiring.

Canon camera lenses in zoom and prime categories are still being manufactured by the camera giant despite the preference of more and more consumers of the more versatile and convenient zoom lenses. There are many different kinds of Canon camera lenses available to suit the needs and preferences of the consumers.
