With the use of GPS systems, more and more people are finding that they can locate any destination with the click of a button or a verbal command.  Some of these systems are used in cars and there are other handheld GPS receiver brands that can be carried for when a person is hiking, biking or participating in any activity outdoors.

The concept behind the GPS system is one that allows a signal to be focused on by using satellites.  The satellites find the signal and then transmit information on where a person is or give directions to where someone wants to go.  This concept is changing the way people get directions or even plan out their workouts.  With so many different handheld GPS receiver brands and products it is a good idea to learn more about what is offered.

Types of GPS Handheld Receiver Brands Available

Many companies make a variety of products that use the GPS system in them.  Some of these devices are again used as navigation systems in cars and there are also GPS handheld receiver products available.  These products are usually small enough to fit into your palm so they are easy to carry.

The Cobra Handheld GPS monitor is easy to use and popular.  This navigation device needs to have information downloaded onto it first though, so make sure to use the software included to get the proper maps of where you will be visiting.  The maps are downloaded onto a computer and the information is then transferred to the Cobra Handheld unit.  It has precise information that can make any trip straightforward with no getting lost side trips.

Another GPS handheld receiver that is small and easy to use is the TomTom Rider Portable.  This was designed for a motorcycle enthusiast so it is small and has features such as a visor for the screen and non-glare coating on the screen.  It comes with a Bluetooth helmet headset that transmits verbal directions that are precise and easy to follow.
Garmin is another well known name in GPS handheld receiver brands.  There are several models to choose from and they each come with different bonuses.  The units are small and easy to carry as well as packed with information.

For some, a GPS handheld receiver also doubles as a watch.  Companies are beginning to find that consumers enjoy the access of wearing a watch that also transmits locations and directions.  Outdoor buffs enjoy the ability to have information right at their fingertips as to where they are and how far they have come. GPS handheld receivers are certainly a practical tool for today’s busy lifestyles.
