How data recovery expert works

Published by Jennifer at 11:38 am under Data Recovery

A data recovery expert is a technician who knows the trick of recovering data that has either been lost due to malfunction of the drive or is accidentally deleted. Some people turn experts by experience. They learn by the process of trial and error; others learn it in a more scientific manner. In either case it is always an education to see how the data recovery expert works.

A data recovery expert basically investigates the problems and retraces the operation back to the point where the problem caused the data loss. This can involve hours of undoing computer code or even installing and using programs that can help in the recovery.

Good data experts are able to recover data lost by any method: power surges, mechanical hard drive failures, file overwrites, disk reformatting, deleted files or file groupings, software corruption, physical damage or other critical errors.

They are like doctors. They make the first diagnosis by querying you. It is therefore important that you explain all symptoms leading to disk failure accurately. Based on this, the data recovery experts decide to treat the problem at your premises or to bring the hard disk to their clinic. The second one is always a better option because computer clinics are cleaner and better equipped.

After an analysis, an estimate is drawn up and forwarded to the customer. As a customer you need to approve the estimate before the expert starts work. Once you approve, a good data expert can take anything from 24 to 48 hours to recover the lost data. Once the data is recovered the expert also checks it for workability before handing the machine back to you.

Data recovery can cost a fortune because data recovery experts are highly skilled people, and charge high fees for their work. You always have the option to use the data recovery software. But you should do this only if you know how the computer works. Don’t follow a help file, and try to behave like a data recovery expert. Amateur work can actually cause more harm than good to your computer.

Also, don’t try to trouble shoot a problem after seeing a data recovery expert in operation. The data recovery expert knows what he is doing. You don’t. In fact, it is always advisable to invest in a good data recovery expert in the same way that you invest in a good physician.
