One of the biggest expenses of a wedding is the wedding pictures. Everybody wants a lot of special memories of their special day because it hopefully will only happen once in a lifetime. There are ways to get the memories you want without having to spend a lot of money. Practically everybody has digital cameras these days and they are great for preserving those special memories for a lifetime.

You don’t have to go out and hire a professional photographer and spend hundreds of dollars to get great wedding pictures. By following a few digital wedding photography tips, even a novice will be able to produce some great shots.

The first, and most important, of the digital wedding photography tips is to find someone who has a good quality digital camera. You don’t want to risk taking pictures with some of the cheaper cameras with lower pixels. The minimum amount of pixels should be four and anything over that number is much better. The higher pixel count will allow you to produce larger pictures such as 11 X 14s, even though the original picture appears much smaller. The pixels prevent the picture from being blurred or distorted when you are trying to adjust the size.

Digital Wedding Photography Tips To Help You Get The Great Shots

Before the wedding you should write down a list of the shots you want to try and get. This is something you can discuss with the bride and groom in advance. Possibly they will have certain shots they want to capture that you would not think about.

Visit the place of the wedding before the big day. Mentally look around and visualize the wedding taking place. Check out the sources of light and think about where you can stand in order to get the shots you need. Nothing can mess up a good photograph better than facing a bright light source when shooting.

Having enough battery power is another of the very important digital wedding photography tips. Make sure your batteries are fully charged before the wedding begins. Digital cameras are often very rough on batteries and if you use a long distance zoom it makes the battery life even shorter. Always carry at least one extra set of batteries, and if you plan to photograph the reception too you might want to consider a second camera or another set of batteries.

Shoot at several different angles. Try to make things interesting instead of using the same old traditional shots. You might even want to find an area where you can get up higher than the wedding couple for some aerial shots.

These are just a few digital wedding photography tips to help get you through the day. It never pays to be too careful or too cautious when it comes to shooting wedding photography. You don’t get another chance to make things right once the wedding is over.

There is hardly any difference as far as principles of photography go, and when comparing digital vs. traditional photography, there is not much to choose on this score since each kind of photography uses a lens as well as aperture and also a shutter. It is only in the formation of images that you will notice differences in either type of photography method, and in the traditional form of photography images are captured on film and later developed in a dark room, while in the digital photography method, an electrical sensor captures the image.

Pixels Or Chemical Processes

Another point of difference that needs to be considered when comparing digital vs. traditional photography is that images obtained from a digital camera are measured in pixels and even mega pixels, while in the traditional photography method; a chemical process is needed to create the final picture.

Also, when comparing digital vs. traditional photography, there is a definite point of difference between the two types because digital cameras have a number of advanced features as compared to traditional cameras that are far less feature rich and which are also easier to operate. Still, once you are done shooting with a traditional camera, it is then quite complicated to use and to develop the picture requires special skills that only professionals have.

No doubt, the paper used to capture traditionally captured photographs is quite durable and will last for many years, though even this bastion of traditional photography is being impinged by digital photography which is providing services that can help to salvage some of the deteriorated photographs obtained from traditional photography.

Nevertheless, one endearing feature of the digital camera is that it is very easy to handle while at the same time, they provide professional quality shots that are far superior to what can be obtained under similar circumstances when using traditional cameras. This is a point worth noting when evaluating digital vs. traditional photography and the superior quality photographs obtained through digital photography can be ascribed to the fact that digital cameras come with automated features that would otherwise require a professional to do the work for you.

Another noteworthy feature worth considering in any digital vs. traditional photography comparison is that digital cameras can even be used underwater and in other unusual locations while the same is not true with traditional cameras. Still, despite the continuing popularity of the digital camera, traditional cameras have not totally become obsolete because they still hold a certain charm for photographers, especially those who grew up using the traditional film style cameras.

With changing times, and because of increased demand to produce certain types of photographs, the digital camera is certainly the preferred choice since it provides quick turn-around as compared to the conventional cameras, and thus usability is another point of difference to be noted when comparing digital vs. traditional photography. All the same, for nature photography, the traditional camera still finds many users, and despite the many differences between the traditional and digital cameras, the two are coexisting side by side and each type can be used where one scores over the other.

Over the recent past few years, digital photography has grown by leaps and bounds and from those early expensive tiny gadgets to the highly affordable ones that you can easily buy today; there has been a lot of water that has flowed underneath the bridge. And, with so many different features available today, one can easily get confused whether to make use of all the automatic features or to use manual settings, which has thus given rise to the digital vs. manual photography debate.

Learn About Aperture, Focus And Shutter Speeds

In any case, you need to realize that whether you use the manual controls available on digital cameras or the automatic settings, the answer to the digital vs. manual photography revolves around just a few things. The first thing that will require your attention is the automatic feature known as aperture priority which really boils down to letting in more light by using a bigger aperture opening or closing the aperture to let in less light, which the digital camera does automatically for you or which you can set the aperture manually.

You can choose whether you want to do these controls on your own or have the digital camera do it for you based on how confident you are of your own abilities in setting the aperture.

The second aspect to deciding which is the better option with regard to digital vs. manual photography is the shutter priority which means automatically setting the amount of light that will strike the ‘film’ for a specific (usually, predetermined) time. Here, using the manual controls can be quite beneficial to you especially when trying to shoot objects that are moving fast. Setting the shutter speed gives you a lot more opportunity to be creative than when using the camera’s shutter priority option.

Another aspect to digital vs. manual photography is the ability to focus on an object or subject, and here again it requires knowing how to get the maximum focus while using manual controls though most people prefer the auto focus feature of the digital camera. You certainly don’t need to do this manually, unless you have to shoot under special conditions which require manual settings; otherwise, automatic focus will do you alright, especially as there are many scene selections for you to set, which should give you the desired results.

To conclude, digital vs. manual photography is something that is related to personal preferences rather than any hard and fast rule in which one form of digital photography scores over the other. With full manual control you will be able choose the aperture, focus and shutter speeds for yourself for each shot that you take. Of course, you will have to pay the penalty if you end up choosing the wrong options, though it must be said that modern digital cameras are so well made that there is hardly any need to use the manual options. Still, the die hard photographers may still do some tinkering on their own, though otherwise it can be safely said that automatic settings are the way to go for most people.

Most of the latest cameras come with a digital photography tutorial that literally takes you by the hand and teaches you all that you need to know about taking photographs with the digital camera you just bought. For best results use those lessons of the digital photography tutorial that matches with your level of knowledge; you would find three types of tutorials – basic, advanced and expert.

What Are The Major Highlights That A Digital Photography Tutorial Gives You

The first thing that you would learn from the digital photography tutorial is how to handle the camera. You will find that the most complex digital camera would require no more than ten minutes to master its use. This is because in a digital camera everything is computerized and all you need to learn is to how to give it your command.

The next thing that the tutorial would teach you is how to take a picture in different circumstances, i.e. in full sun, on a cloudy day, when the sun is in front of you and when it is behind you, when the lighting is very poor or very bright and so on. Though generally the lighting conditions are taken care of by the camera automatically, the tutorial would explain to you the different aspects so you would understand its function better and be able to use it manually when shooting special subjects.

Next comes the shutter speed, aperture and exposure which normally would be set manually in a regular camera; with a digital camera your work is very much simplified as its inbuilt sensors are meant to understand the conditions and type of subject (whether moving or still) you are shooting and give you the best possible combinations for shooting your target. The digital photography tutorial would once again explain how the camera functions and why you do not need to worry about these aspects as you would have had to do if you used a regular camera.

Lastly, the digital photography tutorial would take you through the use of the photography software with which you could edit and further perfect the pictures you shot. Most of the software in question would allow a vast range of manipulations to the photographs you download would open for you a new world of creativity.

As you finish the tutorial, immediately apply what you learned and practice the maneuvers until you are fully conversant and comfortable with the procedures taught. In case you have started with the basic, remember you would still have two more levels to cover. With each level you cross you would be able to understand and use your digital camera better and get some exceptional results with the photographs you shoot.

Having a digital camera in your hands puts you at a great advantage over those that are still stuck with film based traditional cameras and you will be astonished at the kinds of digital photography tips & tricks there are that you can learn and which will help make your digital photography skills bloom. As everyone that owns a digital camera knows, these wonderful new devices have excellent resolutions that are measured in pixels that range from low resolution to high resolution. All that you then need to do is to learn the different digital photography tips & tricks that will help you make use of all the various electronic features that is making digital photography so popular today.

Shoot Away

Perhaps the first among many digital photography tips & tricks that you need to learn is the need to pump up the volume and take as many pictures as you can, which will be sure to throw up a golden nugget or two among many average photographs – something that was not so easy to achieve when using traditional cameras.

The next digital photography tips & trick is relatively simple as well and requires that you focus your attention on getting the proper lighting for your subject which will help to enhance the image. Remember, that different times of the day need special lighting though the best time to shoot digital pictures would be around dusk, which is a time of the day when there are rich hues and tone that you can put to good use in your photography.

Anticipating events too is another useful digital photography tips & trick that you should try to learn because if you can anticipate what the subject of your photograph (kids, for example) are going to do then chances are that you can capture some great fleeting expressions and thus get a greater kick from your digital photography efforts.

And, don’t forget another useful digital photography tips & trick which is that you need to ensure downloading and dumping your photographs to your PC in order to free up space on your digital camera’s storage medium. This will ensure that you won’t miss out on capturing some very excellent pictures just because your camera did not have any space for that very shot.

Also, you can learn to use Photoshop to good effect, especially if you know how to grayscale, do Sepia toning, lassoing and also saturation and more. This is a worthwhile digital photography tips & trick that will pay you rich dividends as long as you make the effort to learn them and then put them to good use on your digital pictures.

Of course, the best digital photography tips & tricks are those that you can figure out for yourself and which come from using your digital camera over the years. Still, the ones that have been described should help you in your learning about how to get the most out of digital photography and which can be adapted to suit your style and thus gives you even more joy from using your digital camera.

Use this seven digital photography tips to make your digital photos stand out from the crowd.

Digital Photography Tip #1 – Use Auto Focus

Let your camera do the focusing. Virtually every digital camera has an auto focus feature; use it. Unless you have your camera on a tripod and trip the shutter by remote control so you don’t have to touch it, you can’t get a better focus by hand than you can get with the auto focus feature of your digital camera.

Digital Photography Tip #2 – Find A Focal Point

How will the person viewing the photograph know what to look at in the photograph if you don’t tell them? If you need to, zoom in on your focal point to eliminate distractions in the foreground or background.

Digital Photography Tip #3 – Shoot On The Grid

When you look through your viewfinder or at your LCD display, imagine splitting the scene into a grid three rows high and three columns wide. Try to put your focal point on one of the gridline intersections. This digital photography tip is especially effective for portrait photography.

Digital Photography Tip #4 – Frame The Shot

Look for natural frames in your scenery to give your photographs depth and draw even more attention to your focal point. Imagine one of my favorite wedding pictures: a white limousine, a dark-tuxedoed groom standing alongside while the white-gowned bride emerges from the darkened back seat. This picture has a few well-placed contrasting lines, dark against light, and they all point to the bride.

Digital Photography Tip #5 – Avoid The Flash

While auto focus is your friend, auto flash is not. Digital flash photography can leave everybody looking a little bit blue. Turn on all the lights in the room when you’re taking digital photography. Tip your subjects to the light by setting up attractive photo opportunities in areas where a pendant light, recessed light, or chandelier hangs between the photographer and the subject.

Digital Photography Tip #6 – How To Use The Flash When You Must

Again, turn on as many interior lights as possible. If the room is still too dimly lit for great digital photographs, use your flash in addition to the existing lighting. Remember, a standard digital flash lights only the area 10 to 15 feet away from your digital camera.

Digital Photography Tip #7 – Use Photo Editing Software

One of the best things about digital images is that they’re so easy to edit. You can find photo editing software available at very reasonable prices – even for free. Enhance the colors in your photos, eliminate the red eyes, crop out distracting backgrounds, sharpen the focus – you can make so-so pictures look like professional photographs with this one digital photography tip alone.

Whether you are a professional photographer or just like photography as a hobby, the goal is usually to capture that perfect picture, a picture that can adequately convey your perspective. However, while some people are lucky enough to capture their ideal pictures on a regular basis, for others that have a harder time doing so it is important to capture a digital photography timeline.

Digital Photography Timeline Suggestion #1 Find the Setting

It goes without saying that in order to capture the perfect picture, you will need to find the ideal setting. For example, say you are interested in landscape photography. There are many different landscapes to choose from, but what if you want to capture a specific setting under certain weather conditions?

Your digital photography timeline will be shortened under such conditions. After all, if you are interested in taking a picture of a snowy day, you will need to wait for it to actually be snowy. So, make sure that you keep an eye on the weather conditions, and once the weather conditions are ideal, you are ready to take the next step in the digital photography timeline.

Digital Photography Timeline Suggestion #2: Be Aware of Your Camera Specifications

There are many different digital camera models available on the market, and as such each model comes with different specifications. For an outdoor wintery setting, you will need to make sure that your camera can handle cold temperatures and watery conditions.

Another thing that you will have to be aware of is the zoom on your camera. The zoom is very important, because it is the zoom that allows you to get the most detail in your pictures. Make sure that you are aware of all the adjustments on the camera, and that way you will not let the perfect picture moment slip away

Digital Photography Timeline Suggestion #3: Make Sure the Conditions Are Safe

You might be adventurous in your quest for the ideal picture, but some weather conditions and locations are just not safe. If you plan on taking a picture in a less-than-safe location, make sure that you are not alone, and have the right safety equipment.
For More Information

If you would like more information on how to find the ideal digital photography timeline for your photo shoot, search the internet. There are many different websites that are run by photographers, and you are sure to find the right information that will lead to a beautiful picture.

Today, it would be very unusual to find too many people that are still clicking away on the traditional film-based cameras, for now-a-days, both professionals as well as amateurs know of only one way to shoot pictures and that is the digital photographic way. Thus, it would pay for you to know of the best digital photography techniques in order to get the best out of your digital camera, and because it is now free to shoot pictures, you can view whatever you have shot on the LCD screen on your camera and not have to wait for the film to be developed or worry about paying development costs either.

Take Several Shots

Thus, the simplest of all digital photography techniques is to take several pictures that will help ensure that you get at least one shot that is exactly as you wanted. You can also use simple digital photography techniques by varying the settings on your digital camera to allow for various effects and thus create more artistic pictures by simply changing the ISO and shutter speed as well aperture. In fact, there are a number of digital cameras that have pre-configured settings for you to select and then are able to shoot the picture with even more precise settings.

This is a very simple digital photography technique that can be used even for taking shots that the settings were not intended for, which will nevertheless still provide you with very unique outcomes.

The one thing that some users of digital cameras complain about the most is the relatively long time it takes to focus on a subject as compared to the amount of time that traditional film cameras take. The worst thing is that in case your focus gets delayed, you can even miss taking a shot, though now there are the new digital photography techniques that can be used to overcome this problem in which all you need to do is to point at the subject and press the focus knob half way down and then simply wait till the focus locks onto the subject. As soon as you want to shoot the subject, you push the button completely and your camera will do the rest for you.

Another very useful digital photography technique is using an optical viewfinder that may not be a feature that is found in all digital cameras, but is still very useful when the LCD view is not too clear because of conditions such as when the day is especially bright and sunny. However, in case you don’t have an optical viewfinder on your digital camera, you can still use the tried and tested digital photography technique and that is to take several shots till you get one that is just right.

Digital photography has many such innovative digital photography techniques that you can use that makes this new form of photography a real pleasure and which provides endless fun to all manner of photographers – from a newbie to the most professional photographer.

The first thing that would come to your mind when you think of digital photography is the ability to edit it into whatever you want. There is a lot of fun doing this not to mention the creativity involved when you edit the digital photograph to distort the truth as per your convenience. What makes all this possible and more is the digital photography software.

Why Buy When You Can Get The Best Of Digital Photography Software Free?

You could always buy some of the hi-fi digital photography software and get excellent results from your photographs, whether they were shot correctly or not. The software does have the power to make a bad photograph great and vice-versa. There is plenty of free software on the Net to help you achieve whatever you would want.

Among the best and first choice in digital software is the Adobe Photoshop which is a highly rated and expensive platform to use. There are others as good but less expensive such as the Paintshop Pro which deliver high quality features and functionality for a modest price. Whenever you want excellent results, by all means use these packages.

However, if you are not fussy about having a sealed approval for your software, you could use the totally free digital photography software Picasa launched by Google and many others such as Sqirlz Morph, 2 Pic, Snipshot, Prelick Gold, Serf Photo Plus 6, paint.net, e-Picture, Gimp for Windows, and so on with the same results.

If you wish to use any of this wonderful free digital photography software, all you need to do is go to their site and download it. There is no subscription cost, neither there is any fees for using all the features of the software and as a result you get some exceptionally well finished snaps.

The advantage with the free digital photography software is that you need not worry about upgrades that would require you to pay recurring fees nor you would you need to renew your subscription at any given time. Once you download it on your computer, you would get periodic free updates that would be automatically downloaded and upgraded to your software. In this manner you could be the happy owner of some great editing gear at no cost whatsoever.

The Disadvantages Of Using A Free Digital Photography Software

As with any feature or facility this too has its own downsides. One more important is that it sometimes channelizes spyware or adware on your computer, though if you have installed the latest anti-virus software these would be detected before they would do any real harm.

The second one would be that you might get addicted to the computer once you learn how to use it as it gives so much satisfaction and joy to edit your photographs into real works of art or caricatures – as it suits your purpose.
