Like any other product you are getting ready to buy you are going to want to become familiar with the different digital camcorder features before you invest your money in any one particular product. You will want to know which digital camcorder features are beneficial and what are the different aspects of the more common digital camcorder features on each product. Things change in technology quickly but there are still some digital camcorder features that every buyer needs to be familiar with and needs to know how to rate before you can get the best deal possible. The notion of you get what you pay for is very true and if you have a complete understanding of the digital camcorder features that are important to you prior to putting your money down then you stand a much better chance of getting exactly what you want.

One of the bigger changes in the digital camcorder market is the form factor you will find a digital camcorder in. Many of the consumer level digital cameras now come with digital camcorder features that allow you to make movies as well as take very clear pictures. These movies are in full color and sound and are excellent quality so before you invest in something that is just a digital camcorder you may first want to explore the idea of a digital camera that has digital camcorder features built in to it. You can have everything you need in one unit and that can not only save you money but also make your life a lot easier.

When There Is No Film

Another of the very important digital camcorder features is memory. Since you are no longer using film you need to be able to easily manage the memory of your digital camcorder so that you get the most out of it. With a camcorder it is not always the best idea to have all of the memory built in to the camera. In many cases you can buy a memory card the size of a postage stamp that can hold hours worth of video and you can keep a collection using these inexpensive memory cards. Downloading your video from the camera can be time consuming and take up space on your computer hard drive. So see if there is a sufficient memory expansion slot on your camera to allow you to take advantage of the portability of this feature.

With the rapid pace at which modern technology keeps changing today, and which is just as applicable to digital photography equipment as to computers and telecommunications, it will indeed prove to be very helpful if you are able to read up on various digital photography equipment reviews that will shed more light on the changes that are constantly taking place in photo equipment products. If you look about, you will come across many informative digital photography equipment reviews both online as well as offline that can prove to be very helpful when it comes to deciding on the best digital photography equipment for you.

Short, Concise And Simple

A good digital photography equipment review should be short and concise and simple as well and it should also help you make comparisons of different though similar products and it should also give you the necessary lowdown as to which features to choose and which can be omitted on the grounds that they are superfluous to your needs. In addition, it would also help readers if the digital photography equipment review also specifies the price of the various products and the salient features as well as specifications of different products so that you can do some comparison shopping.

So, if you are planning on giving your kid a new digital camera, or accessories for the digital camera, you need to look for a digital photography equipment review that will show you the different available options and which will individually review each different brand and product so that you know all that there is to know about kid’s digital cameras.

A good digital photography equipment review should have much tips and even tutorial regarding different digital photography products, and in addition, they should also provide you with information regarding different aspects to good digital photography because there are many people that will be buying their first digital photography equipment, and they will certainly appreciate learning about what digital photography is all about, so that it acts as an introduction to them about this exciting new world of photography well before they put their money down on a particular piece of digital photography equipment.

Of course, the person or persons writing digital photography equipment review should themselves be experts in digital photography and who are sure to give only impartial and unbiased opinions rather than simply advertising certain products because the manufacturer paid them to give their products a good review. You should thus take what a digital photography equipment review tells you with a pinch of salt, and do your own research to double check the veracity of the reviews and not take anybody’s word for it unless you are sure that the reviewer is an unbiased expert who is expressing an honest opinion based on solid facts.

With digital photography, you can take pictures anywhere and add spectacular digital photography backdrops to your pictures after you take them, in the “digital darkroom,” also known as your computer. Or use fabulous computer-generated graphics printed on wide-format canvas or muslin.

Standard Digital Photography Backdrops

The same backdrops that look great with traditional photography also look good with digital photography. A backdrop of plain white muslin makes a dramatic field for any portrait. Color washed muslin sheets in cool shades emulate marble, granite, and a cloudy sky, while warm shades bring to mind earth tones, blue skies, and desert sands, making them both suitable for digital photography backdrops.

Custom Digital Photography Scenery Backdrops

These backdrops are computer painted with custom digital photography scenes. Your subject poses against a realistic looking ivy-covered gate, a whimsical castle wall, or a giant sports stadium.

Digital photography scenic backdrops are especially popular for wedding photographs, as the bride and groom can appear to be posing for their wedding pictures in a great variety of indoor churches and chapels or outdoor gazebos or meadows.

Green Screen Digital Photography Backdrops

Professionals use a Chromakey green screen backdrop to make the backgrounds in their pictures disappear. After photographing your subject in front of a green screen, use green screen software to make the green in your picture disappear. Now you have a blank canvas, and virtually any digital photography backdrop can be superimposed behind the star of your picture.

Digital Photography Backdrop Support

All these backdrops must be supported by a backdrop stand, which consists of a series of cross braces and a series of vertical supports. Backdrop stands cost about $100, but they are well worth the investment as one backdrop stand will work with a wide variety of digital photography backdrops.

Digital Backdrops

The real fun about digital photography is how easy it is to add different backdrops after the picture is taken. Backdrops are available on CD or online in such a wide variety of themes and subjects that it is impossible to list them all here.

Digital photography is one of those great inventions that might get lost in the crowd of technological miracles that emerged during the 1980s and 1990s. But the digital camera definitely holds its own as one of the best among inventions like the personal computer, the cell phone, and the Internet.

Digital Photography Saves Money.

Digital technology only became affordable and available during the mid-1990s, but already it is hard to imagine a world where people spent their hard-earned money for prints of pictures of blurry babies, overexposed children, and people with their heads cut off. Before digital photography, no one knew for sure which of their pictures were bad, so it was impossible to have just the good pictures printed.

No studies can be found about the amount of money saved by consumers’ not printing bad photos, but it must amount to millions if not billions of dollars since the invention of digital photography.

Digital Photography Saves The Environment.

Processing traditional photographs used silver and other chemicals to process photographs. Massive amounts of water were required to rinse the chemicals from the photographs at every stage of the process. Finally, print after print was transferred to paper to create the “proofs” from which the customer ultimately selected the one or two photographs he or she wanted to purchase.

Because the process was so complex, film developing facilities were few and far between. Consumers dropped their film off at drug stores or kiosks, and the film was transported to and from a developing facility in a gasoline-powered vehicle.

Digital photography saves countless gallons of gasoline, water, and chemicals, as well as untold forests of trees.

Digital Photography Saves Time.

When traditional photography was all we had to work with, people used to drive to the camera store, the drug store, or photo developing kiosk to turn in their film; then, the waiting began. It took anywhere from a few days to a week to get photographs developed, so people had to plan ahead when they took their pictures. A parent who wanted to send a picture of a child for a grandparent’s birthday had to purchase film about ten days before the birthday to allow time to have the film developed and printed and to mail the prints.

With digital photography, Grandpa and Grandma can get same-day birthday pictures of their grandchildren.

Digital photography saves consumers time and money, conserves water, and limits the use of harmful chemicals. Digital photography is clearly one of the greatest innovations of the digital age.

There are a number of consumer electronics stores in the world these days and if you opt to walk down the aisles of any one of a number of these stores you will invariably come across a huge selection of cameras. Of course, there are a multitude of manufacturers and when it comes to digital photography there will certainly be no shortage of name brands that have affixed their name to a number of products. This may bring about the question which one of these brands is the best. Now, “the best” is a somewhat subjective description as different people will have different tastes and needs. But, if you want to know which brands are solid and reliable then there will be certain objective facts that can not be denied. Of all the name brands out there, very few are as solid and reliable as Canon and this is why you can never go wrong with Canon digital photography equipment.

Some products were homeruns and some were duds. That is just the way it goes in the manufacturing business. So, how does one know which are the best of the best in the Canon digital photography realm? There are a number of traditional sources of information in regards to this such as consumer publications and various published reviews. These are generally solid, reliable and unbiased. Additionally, the new realm of the internet has brought about a great variety of online forums, message boards and other mediums that provide a free flow of information on this subject. As such, one who is interested in learning the right info will discover the info that they are looking. Guaranteed!

Anyone older than 25 probably recalls the days when “preserving a memory” meant finding a way to store your photo prints and keep track of all the negatives. Preserving prints is now passé, thanks to the arrival of the digital camera and a myriad of ways to store digital images.

Americans are shooting digital snapshots with wild abandon, leading to hundreds of souvenir photos stored on our digital cameras. In fact, most people likely have thousands of untouched photos with bewildering file names stashed in folders on their PC’s hard drive.

Storing digital images has its own set of unique challenges. Getting them all in one place, sorting out when and where images were taken, making sense of the arbitrary numeric names your digital camera assigns to an image can become a time-consuming task. Not to mention the question: What do you do when your hard drive crashes and all those images are gone?

Here are some helpful hints for organizing your digital images into a virtual art gallery:

* Don’t leave them on the camera. Not only will you run out of room for new images, but you also run the risk of losing all of them if the camera is damaged or lost. It is best to move images off your digital camera as soon as possible.

* Use your PC to organize and enhance your digital images on their way to their permanent storage place. Windows Photo Gallery, new on Windows Vista, makes it easy to import, store and organize photos.

* Take the time to rename the images as you download them from your camera. You’ll want to note the date they were taken and tag them with a name that will tell you what they are. “We’ve taken this task a step further by allowing users to name their photos all at once and later easily retrieve them through the search function found in our new Windows Vista operating system,” says Craig Cincotta, senior product manager for Windows Vista at Microsoft Corp.

* Invest in a good editing or photo management program, such as Windows Photo Gallery, which is included in Windows Vista. If you take and store many digital images, programs such as these can save hours of organization time. Windows Photo Gallery, for example, provides speedy transfer capabilities, automatically prompts you to tag the images with a meaningful name, allows you to search and sort images easily, and provides a number of editing and enhancing options.

* While many people store their images on the hard drive of their home computer, this has its dangers. If the hard drive crashes, it may be difficult or impossible to retrieve your prized images. Consider saving your images to a DVD, CD or USB drive. Any of these options will provide further peace of mind. Always remember to make a backup copy of any particularly valued images.

* Although online services allow you to store your images, some services will start deleting your photos if your account is inactive for some time or you never purchase prints through them.

(ARA) – With summer on its way and Father’s Day, student graduations and wedding season approaching, many people are looking for the perfect gift for their loved ones. If there’s someone on your list who always wants the latest tech gadgets, but does little with them once they are out of their boxes, consider giving them a gift that will teach and encourage them to use these electronics to their fullest potential. This way, you can ensure your gifts, and ultimately your money, are not being wasted.

According to Consumer Electronics Association, more than 68 percent of U.S. households own a digital camera. However, very few people actually use all of the features loaded into today’s digital cameras. This year, give that special someone a gift membership to a digital photo workshop where users can learn how to maximize the features on their digital cameras and truly enjoy digital photography. When choosing which digital photography class to give, look for one that offers a local instructor who can continue to be a valuable resource even after the course has ended. For instance, the Digital Photo Academy, a nationwide series of digital photography courses by Panasonic LUMIX digital cameras, features professional photographer-instructors who live in the communities where they are teaching, meaning they will continue to be accessible to provide ongoing photography tips and teach future classes.

To accommodate all types of digital cameras users, the Digital Photo Academy offers classes at three different skill levels ranging from basic point and shoot instruction to advanced field sessions using the latest SLR. Whether your high school graduate needs beginner classes that will teach red-eye reduction, how to create scrapbooks and other basic point-and-shoot digital camera skills; or if your father would benefit from an intermediate four-hour course that teaches the versatility and precision of digital SLRs; or if your college graduate is an avid photo enthusiast who would benefit from an advanced two-day course with professional-level skills — there is a course for everyone.

“Courses at the academy are the perfect gift for anyone, at any level, who wants to learn what a powerful and enjoyable tool a digital camera can be,” says John Bentham, an instructor at the Digital Photo Academy in New York, whose photography has recently been published in his own book. “I’m excited to teach my own local community in a program this unique. We welcome all students, regardless of the digital camera brand they own, so they can learn practical skills with the camera they’ll use once the course ends.”

While people are welcome to bring any type of camera to the academy, why not pair the gift with a brand-new, full-featured digital camera to use during the course? For example, Panasonic’s entire new LUMIX digital camera line — from entry-level point-and-shoot models to the professional digital SLR camera — all offer the most advanced technologies to eliminate the biggest problem in photo taking — blur. Once you select the right photography course and digital camera, truly personalize your gift, by attending the class with the lucky recipient to create quality time doing something you’ll both enjoy.

Pricing for the Digital Photo Academy is designed to be affordable, too: $50 for beginner courses; $65 for intermediate courses; and $150 for advanced courses. For more information, including course schedules, instructor biographies, and details to purchase courses, visit www.DigitalPhotoAcademy.com.

Simple Tips on How to Take and Share Family PhotosÂ

Do you ever wonder how photographers capture such priceless moments? It’s not as hard as you may think, especially in today’s world of digital photography.

According to Jay Forman, a professional photographer and author of “Capture Your Kids In Pictures,” taking great family photos doesn’t require expensive gear or technical prowess, just the application of simple principles and some common sense. Once you’ve mastered the basics, you’ll find yourself eager to display every photo, because the best part about taking pictures is sharing them with friends and family.

Here are some simple tips from Jay Forman on how to take great family photos and share them in a unique and creative way:

* Get closer. Too often, we take a picture that includes our subject but many other nonessential elements. Getting closer not only helps get rid of extraneous items, but produces a more intimate image.

* Don’t say “Cheese.” Saying “cheese” puts the mouth in an unnatural position and makes a smile look forced. Consider telling a joke for a more natural smile or simply try to capture the expression of the moment.

* Keep shooting. Typically, people only take one or two shots of a person or situation, which reduces your chances for a great photograph. By shooting four or five photographs of the same situation, your chances diminish for someone’s eyes being closed or not looking at the camera. And with a digital camera, there is no harm in taking extra shots because you can simply delete the bad ones.

* Utilize sunlight. Sunlight in the morning or the late afternoon is the softest and most pleasing light, which is ideal for taking pictures. If possible, try to avoid shooting during the midday hours when light is harsh, which can result in shadows and squinting.

* Select some candid shots to display. Oftentimes, we are inclined to pick a posed portrait, but candid shots tend to say much more about someone’s personality.

* Create a collage or grouping of similar photos. Sometimes one photo cannot accurately tell the whole story. By grouping photographs, you can have all aspects of an event on display at once.

* Be creative with where you display your photographs. Photos are usually placed on the fireplace mantle, next to your bed or on your desk. Try placing photos in more unusual places that could use some dressing up, such as the bathroom, above the kitchen sink or a school locker.

* Send your photos to friends and family. The holidays are the perfect time to send a photo card to loved ones. Post-it Photo Cards have a photo quality front and sticky back, making it easy for loved ones to display your one-of-a-kind card.
