The department has produced “Cellphone choices for Canadians – a Checklist”, a kind of online brochure, with six steps to help consumers “get a grip” on their cell phone options.

What it all boils down to is helping you discover who you are as a cell phone user. It’s important to know your needs and wants before you sign anything, so you don’t end up paying for things you don’t need.

The guide is very practical and has your financial well being at heart. For example, before you even begin to work through the checklist, figure out how much money you’re willing to spend each month. Once you settle on a budget, you can work through the checklist and start making decisions. It even has a step for understanding cell phone bills, line by line.

* Call the person back when they can have your full attention. Many employers use the first phone call to screen applicants and conduct telephone interviews so you may be on the phone for a while. If necessary, call them back from a land-line phone.

Today’s employers look for applicants who have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Your resume is your first impression — your phone skills are your second. By following these cell phone guidelines, you won’t be hanging up on your career.

For many people, having a cellular phone antenna is essential.  Whether or not you need one all depends on where you are located.  In most cases, cell towers that people receive a signal from are so close to so many places that there is no true need for a cell antenna.  However, some areas are still to remote.

There is use for them in some wide open areas and where the cell towers have not yet taken over.  However; for the most part people do not really have a need for an antenna for their cell phone any longer.  As with most things these are becoming unnecessary to be needed for anyone.  Look into what you have and when you do go to purchase a cell phone just to be on the safe side inquire about the need for an antenna.  It is possible that they will tell you that you do need one in certain areas, but for the most part this little item will be deemed unnecessary and an expense that does not need to be made.

Your cellular phone battery may be the best part of your cell phone or it may be the worst.  In many cases we have enough battery life in our cell phone batteries to get us through until we get to the charger again.  However with the constant text messaging, picture taking, web browsing and whatever else it is that we decide to do while we are using our cell phones we are in constant need of more power.  For the most part this problem has been addressed by the manufacturers of the cell phones and it almost seems as if we can go for days without charging the battery.  However for the hardcore cell phone user out there, there are other options available.

In essence take care of your battery, charge it as necessary and pay attention to the indicator on your handset so you know when you do need to charge.  This will prolong your battery life and keep your up and running with your cell phone.
