Canon Camera Battery Will Only Work For Certain Canon Brands

Published by Jennifer at 2:55 am under Camera Accessories

Canon has been a leader in any and every kind of photographic equipment from the Bronze Age, it seems.  Actually, they haven’t been around that long, but this is a leading camera brand with no signs of slowing down.  Canon is a brand widely available even in low-end department stores.  If you are considering a Canon camera (and there are many reasons to consider a Canon camera), keep in mind about a quirk of a Canon camera battery – they only fit certain Canon cameras.  And they are not necessarily made by Canon.

When To Change The Battery

In a traditional camera, there is usually a low battery warning light or icon that flashes right in your eyes when you try to take a picture.  That effectively lets you know that its time to change the Canon camera battery.   Your camera might still take photos even when the warning comes on, but it usually works slower and more unpredictably.

In a digital Canon camera, you usually need to change the Canon camera battery when your camera is slow and just won’t take as many pictures as usual.  Depending on your model, there may or may not be an obvious visual low-battery warning.  The length of time between batteries differs from camera to camera.

Where To Get The Battery

Because Canon is such an easily accessible brand name, the Canon camera batteries (made by whatever brand) are usually available wherever the cameras are sold.  Keep this in mind.  Keep this in mind when choosing your camera.  If you do a lot of traveling to faraway places, then you need to always pack extra Canon camera batteries, as they may not be available where you are going to.

Canon camera batteries are available online and in real shops.  Usually, Canon leaves a battery guide with their venders to let even the just hired clerk know what battery goes into what camera.  You will always need to keep in mind what model number your camera is so you can use this guide.  You just can’t point at a random Canon and say, “It sorta looks like that.”  If you are stuck without a number, see if the store has a return policy for a Canon camera battery.

A lot of Canon camera batteries are made by a brand called Amstron.  Amstron is a California company that started in 1999 and focuses on making batteries to run high tech portable equipment.  They also make batteries for laptops and camcorders.
